Fundraising at Stringer

The Dorothy Stringer School Fund is a registered charity – 1071616

The Dorothy Stringer School Fund exists to raise money to enrich the experiences of every student who comes to the school. We are proud of the huge range of extra-curricular activities that we offer and it is largely thanks to the enormous amount of support and time our staff give without charge to deliver these activities. But there are costs to all for which we receive no contribution from our statutory funding. We can only continue to deliver this enriched experience with your support.

All money donated to the Dorothy Stringer School fund will be used to support Dorothy Stringer students beyond their classroom learning the fund has supported:

  • School visits and trips
  • After school activities – for example providing individual specialist equipment
  • Speakers and inspirational visitors
  • Opportunities for students to gain new skills and confidence
  • Building on school facilities

  • After school activities – for example providing individual specialist equipment

We are delighted to that Dorothy Stringer School has partnered with Smarter Uniforms, Brighton & Hove’s innovative school-uniform reuse project.

Smarter Uniforms collects uniform students have outgrown or no longer need when they move on from Stringer. The uniform is then sorted, washed and resold back to parents.

Uniform donations can be left in the Smarter Uniform collection box in Dorothy Stringer’s reception.

Working with Smarter Uniform we will save parents money, protect our planet’s precious resources for our children’s future, and raise important funds for the school. Parents and carers can order through the Smarter Uniforms website

Current Campaigns & Successes

This year as a school our ongoing campaigns with EasyFundraising and Smarter Uniforms are focussed on supporting students’ mental health & wellbeing.

We are fundraising for creative arts workshops and events for student wellbeing.

Most recently the school has received generous support from the following:

  • Universal Music UK Sound Foundation awarded a grant to fund the purchase of 18 new ukuleles for our Year 7 ukulele club.
  • Scottish Power donated funds for two new table tennis tables which will be installed in the summer.
  • Love Local Jobs Foundation teamed up with our Dolawen Centre last year to provide wonderful opportunities for young children.
  • Big Yellow Self Storage donated £10,000 to Dorothy Stringer School to allow all Year 7 students to attend our Dolawen centre with their form groups.
  • Donatello restaurant sponsors the Dorothy Stringer School PE Department
Over the years Donatello have invested sponsorship in the school’s football, rugby, netball and basketball provision by investing in equipment to help the development of these sports.
