Welcome to Dorothy Stringer

Dorothy Stringer is a happy, inclusive and ambitious learning community where young people are known, valued and encouraged to take an active part in school life. Inside and beyond the classroom, our students are supported to grow in confidence, curiosity and character, within a nurturing environment that recognises and responds to every individual’s needs.

We understand that choosing a secondary school is an important decision. At Dorothy Stringer, our motto is ‘Education for Life and we have three core values: Creativity, Resilience, and Respect. Our school values guide everything we do.  We believe education should be both challenging and joyful. Our broad and engaging curriculum is designed to help every student achieve their best academically, while also developing the skills, resilience and independence needed for the world beyond school.

As young people prepare for an ever‑changing future, we see it as our responsibility to equip them not only with strong qualifications, but with a lifelong love of learning. Over their five years with us, students are encouraged to explore their interests, take part in rich extracurricular opportunities and build lasting friendships and memories.

We excel at nurturing our students in a safe and happy environment and caring for their emotional wellbeing. Our aim is to teach students not just their curriculum subjects but to value and support each other. We work hard to develop partnerships with parents and carers too, and to secure their interest, support and commitment.

Above all, Dorothy Stringer is a place where children enjoy coming to school, feel a strong sense of belonging and are inspired to thrive. We look forward to welcoming you and your child into our community.
