Facilities Hire

Dorothy Stringer is a large, secondary school with extensive grounds, located in central Brighton. At Dorothy Stringer, we are proud to offer a wide range of versatile facilities available for hire. Whether you’re looking for a space for events, meetings, sports activities, or other gatherings, we have options to suit your needs.

You can explore the different spaces we offer for hire hovering over the facilities below, which provides further details about each facility. 

Facility hire is available from 6pm – 10pm weekdays and weekends 8am –10pm. As well as during school holidays. 

Our 3G pitch is available 6pm – 9pm weekdays. Weekends 8am – 6pm.  

Please note that facilities are not available for hire on Bank Holidays. All bookings are subject to availability. 

Classrooms

We have plenty of classrooms available, which are ideal for meetings, workshops, or running your own evening classes. Our classrooms offer a comfortable and practical environment, perfect for both professional and educational use. All classrooms are well-equipped and fitted with interactive TVs

Main Hall / Theatre

260sqm. Stage area: 61sqm. Retractable seating for 260 people. The main hall/theatre is a great place to hold shows or events and can also be used for functions. The theatre can be hired with the stage. We have a retractable seating rack with up to 260 seats. Lighting and sound equipment may be available to hire at an additional cost and subject to the availability of our in-house engineer. The stage is not suitable for dance events.

80 sqm. The drama studio/smaller hall is ideal for smaller groups.

3G PITCH

We have a floodlit 3G pitch, which can be hired as a whole pitch, half pitch, or a third of a pitch (ideal for one five-a-side game). Male and female changing and toilets facilities are available next to the pitch.

Dorothy Stringer Tennis/ Netball Courts

We have four full sized outdoor tennis courts and netball courts available. Please note that these are not floodlit and are seasonal. Please note the tennis/netball courts are currently unavailable to hire.

Sports Hall

900sqm. A very large, spacious, purpose-built sports hall suitable for a wide variety of sports including football, netball, volleyball and basketball. Equipment available on request. Male and female changing, showers and toilets also available.

Fitness Suite

101sqm fitness studio which is accessible from the Sports Hall and available to hire on request. Please note that this can only be booked as an ‘add on’ to the Sports hall booking.

Dance Studio

150sqm. Purpose-built dance studio with special flooring, bar and full-size mirrors – ideal for all dance and exercise classes. A music system is not provided, although hirers are welcome to bring their own music systems. Male and female changing, showers and toilets also available.

Surrenden Pool

Recently refurbished Surrenden swimming pool. The pool is available daytime, evenings and at weekends, subject to availability. The pool is 25 metres long and 8 metres wide, with separate male and female changing rooms. Lane ropes, starting blocks and flotation ropes are available on request There is limited public parking available
