What a fantastic evening! ✨
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Evening last night. We loved welcoming so many prospective students and their families into our school, and we hope you had a brilliant evening too!
A special shoutout goes to our staff and our wonderful student helpers. It was fantastic to hear so many of you proudly sharing what makes our school such a special place.

Well done to our first group of Year 7 Forest School students this year 👏 We hope they had a great time exploring the woodland and making the most of this fantastic opportunity! We’re looking forward to meeting the rest of our Year 7 students at Forest School soon 🌳

Our 2026 Open Evening is fast approaching!
There’s no need to book - simply turn up and take the opportunity to explore the school, meet our staff and students, and find out more about life at Dorothy Stringer.
Speeches will take place in the Main Hall, with entry on a first come, first served basis.
We’ll also be running a number of weekday tours following our Open Evening. Booking for these will be available from 9am on Monday 14 September via our school website.
We can’t wait to welcome lots of prospective families and meet you over the coming weeks!

Our students did a fantastic job of running the extra-curricular stalls at our Clubs Fair this morning and it was wonderful to see so many of our Year 7 students signing up to try new and exciting activities.
We can’t wait to see everyone getting stuck in when clubs begin next week!

It was wonderful to see our new Year 7 students settling so quickly into life at Dorothy Stringer last week and becoming part of our school community. We were also delighted to welcome our existing students back after the summer holidays. This week marks the first full week of the autumn term, we are a Week 1 on the timetable.
A reminder to parents that our school calendar can be found on the homepage of the SLG in the ‘quick links’ section, where you can keep up to date with key dates, important information, and upcoming events throughout the term.

Secondary Headteachers across Brighton & Hove are writing jointly to celebrate the achievements of our students and recognise the hard work, determination and resilience that has brought them to this point. As a city, we believe every young person is a City Child, and that every child’s success matters to us all. Today’s results reflect the achievements of individual students and the dedication of the staff, families and communities who support them. We also recognise that every school serves a unique community, with different cohorts of young people bringing their own experiences, strengths and challenges. Results are only one part of the story of a school and the young people within it. Our shared commitment is to celebrate success wherever it is found, learn from one another and continue working together to ensure that every City Child has the opportunity to thrive. We are incredibly proud of all our students, congratulate them on their achievements and wish them every success for the future.

School is now closed for the Summer holidays! We hope you all have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing our students when we re-open in September, on the dates listed above. We will be on week 2 of the timetable.

🎉 RAG WEEK – SPONGE THE TEACHER! 🧽 💧
A huge thank you to all the teachers who volunteered to go in the stocks, and to all the students who came along to happily sponge them! 😄
It was a fantastic fundraiser for our Raising and Giving (RAG) Week, and we really appreciate everyone who got involved and helped make it such a fun event.
